Need Help Understanding Your CDCP Coverage?
The Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) is a wonderful way to make dental care more affordable, but it’s important to understand how the program works. CDCP covers part of your dental expenses (not the full cost), and it isn’t customizable. Patients are still responsible for their portion of treatment fees.
At Alta Dental Studio, we believe in honesty and transparency from the very beginning. Some treatment procedures may require preauthorization, meaning we’ll submit your treatment plan to CDCP before moving ahead. CDCP will then review the request and determine how much of the cost will be covered, as well as what your out-of-pocket responsibility will be. This step ensures that you’re never left in the dark about your care or your costs.
The CDCP benefit period lasts for 12 months, running from July 1 to June 30. Each year, patients are reassessed to confirm ongoing eligibility.
What Services Does CDCP Help With?
The CDCP is designed to make essential dental care more accessible. Coverage typically includes:
- Preventive services such as exams, cleanings, and x-rays
- Basic treatments like fillings, extractions, and certain emergency procedures
- Some major services may be included, but coverage levels vary, and preauthorization may be required
It’s important to note that cosmetic treatments, like whitening or veneers, are not covered under CDCP. That’s why our team takes extra care to explain what is and isn’t included so you can make informed decisions about your smile.
