You're enjoying brunch out with friends when the unthinkable happens—you crack your tooth! Now, you may be experiencing discomfort while chewing and even embarrassment if it happens to be a front tooth. You need relief and solutions—fast!

Dental emergencies in Vancouver don't have to be stressful if you have a trusted dental team to rely on. At Alta Dental Studio, we leave time available in our daily schedule for emergency patients and are available Monday through Saturday.

We encourage patients to call us right away at (604) 876-5032 during dental emergencies so we can assess the situation and provide guidance on the next steps. Here are some common dental emergencies we handle and what to do until you can get to our dental clinic for emergency dental care.

Lost or Broken Restorations

If you lose a dental filling or crown, it can make chewing and smiling uncomfortable and embarrassing. It will need repair or replacement to help you avoid further damage to your smile. Bring the restoration with you if you have it.

Toothaches and Dental Pain

Constant and severe toothaches often indicate a tooth infection, which won't resolve without dental treatment. So don't live with the pain, thinking that it will go away on its own.

If your tooth is infected, a root canal may be required to preserve it. If left untreated, an infected tooth will get progressively worse and may need extraction. Contact your emergency dentist immediately to avoid further discomfort and harm to neighbouring teeth.

Knocked-Out Teeth

This is a situation where time is of the essence! Contact our Vancouver dental clinic right away. The quicker our dentists can see you and assess the problem, the better your chances are of saving your tooth.

Be careful not to handle the tooth too much; place it back into its socket if possible. If not, use milk or saliva to keep it moist during transport.

Chipped or Broken Teeth

Depending on the severity, a broken or chipped tooth may or may not need immediate attention. If the chip is minor, your dentist should still smooth it, so it doesn't irritate your gums or soft tissues. Contact our team for an assessment over the phone.

If you or your loved one is suffering from dental pain or experiencing a tooth emergency, we invite you to contact your Alta Dental Studio team at (604) 876-5032 for prompt emergency dental care in Vancouver, BC.
