You may need emergency dental care if you are suffering from the following:
- Cracked or fractured tooth
- Knocked-out (avulsed) teeth
- Dental abscess
- Severe or persistent pain
- Swelling or bleeding
- Loss or damage to a filling or crown
We always encourage our patients to contact our dental office if they think they may be experiencing a tooth emergency. Our team can assess the situation over the phone and provide guidance on the best next steps.
When Should You Seek Immediate Care?
Some dental emergencies require immediate attention. If you have constant and severe pain that keeps you from sleeping or performing your daily activities, you may have a tooth infection. This requires prompt attention to prevent the infection from spreading.
A knocked-out tooth also requires immediate care to give us the best chance of saving it. Transport the tooth carefully, using milk or saliva to keep it moist if it can't be replaced in its socket.
If you're experiencing excessive bleeding after a surgical procedure, this is also considered a dental emergency and should be addressed promptly.
