Alta Dental

COVID-19 Update

With local health authority and the College of Dental Surgeon easing restrictions, Alta Dental Studio has worked diligently to develop a re-opening plan which is focused on the health and safety of our patients and staff. We have created robust office policies and implemented the following protocols to ensure a comfortable and safe environment for our patients and team members, while maintaining our highest-standard and tailored patient care. A list of enhanced health and safety-related practices have been firmly implemented.

New Protocols During the Pandemic:

All staff members will be screened for COVID-19 prior to their arrival, just as our patients are

Changes to our physical space to permit physical distancing, including plexiglass barrier at reception

Our administrative staff will be wearing masks; clinical staff will be wearing fit-tested N95 respirator, isolation gowns, face shields, and bouffant. We realize this is impersonal in appearance, but it is the best way to ensure everyone’s protection and safety in the clinic.

Our office maintained our highest standard on environmental cleaning and infection control. Every treatment room will be wiped down thoroughly, including all horizontal surfaces, chairs, door handles, and any other high-touch area. This will also occur in public areas.

All surgical instrument will be meticulously processed through top-of-the-line dental washer-disinfector and autoclave.

At our state-of-the-art new facility, floor-to-ceiling enclosed operatory design, together with Surgically Clear Air® Purifier in each treatment room can minimize aerosol circulating in the air.

Every part of the office is disinfected regularly with HOCL mist which is the same chemical produced by the human immune system to fight infection. It is completely safe and non-toxic for humans but highly effective against coronavirus.

New appointment booking and check-in process:

Patients who are scheduled for an in-office appointment will be pre-screened for COVID-19 symptoms over the phone, and again at check-in. We ask all of our patients to avoid bringing partners, children or support persons to appointments and to wear a mask when entering the building.

Patient’s temperature will be checked with touchless forehead thermometer upon arrival. Your appointment will be rescheduled if temperature is greater than 37.5 ºC.

Alcohol-based hand sanitizer is available throughout the office, and we ask that you use them frequently before, during and after your visit.

If you are running late for an appointment, please stay in your car and call the office upon arriving at our location to receive instructions. We ask that you do this so we can safely control the number of patients in our waiting room.

Virtual appointments for all new consultation and the majority of follow up appointments will continue as the pandemic persists. We will review and evaluate our policies and protocols on a regular basis moving forward.

We gratefully appreciate your patience and your trust in our dental team during uncertain time like this. Feel free to give us a call at 604-876-5032, if there is anything we can do to make your dental appointment more comfortable, or if you have any questions regarding our safety measures and infection control during this pandemic.

Our team looks forward to seeing you again at our Vancouver office.

FAQs

Should I wear a mask?

Yes. We provide masks for patients coming in for dental care. The mask is to be worn the entire time except during assessment and treatment. The intention of wearing a mask is to keep you safe in common areas to prevent coronavirus virus transmissions.

How do you practice physical distancing in the office?
At Alta Dental Studio, we adhere to BCCDC (BC center for disease control), CDSBC (College of Dental Surgeon BC) and WorkSafe BC standards and guidelines for infection prevention. We have office policies to ensure that a minimum of 2-meter social distance is maintained in common areas and to use a physical barrier or PPE when 2-meter distance cannot be practiced. We have implemented changes to our physical space to accommodate physical distancing, including plexiglass barrier at reception. Not only that we ask all patients to wear masks, our team members also wear masks and face shields at all time. During dental treatments where physical distancing is not practical, our clinical staffs put on fit-tested N95 respirator, isolation gowns, face shields, and bouffant to ensure zero virus transmissions.

Our appointment times are carefully staggered to minimize contact with other patients, and to safely control number of patients in our waiting room at the same time.

Will there be any changes to the appointment booking and check-in process for patients?

Is it safe for me to have dental treatments done during pandemic?
At Alta Dental Studio, we have firmly implemented highest-standard safety measures and infection control protocols to ensure a safe environment for both patients and ourselves.
We screen all patients and team members upon entering our office to make sure anyone with COVID-19 symptoms are rescheduled. Appointment times are carefully staggered to minimize contact with other patients and wait time.

When we schedule appointment for patients, we are making sure to leave adequate time for each appointment, so that we can focus on each patient individually. This also allows us to thoroughly clean and disinfect all surfaces and sterilize tools and instruments, to change masks, wash our hands, and wear protective clothing in-between seeing patients.
Our office is designed with floor-to ceiling enclosed treatment rooms. We invested in medical-grade air purification system in each treatment rooms to filter any possible virus, pathogens, dust, and small particles. By doing so, we greatly reduce risk of any virus transmission.

Our team believes in teamwork especially when it comes down to infection control. We are willing to go above and beyond in creating a safe and comfortable environment for our patients and ourselves.

We are happy to announce we are resuming most dental services and back to regular office hours as of Thursday, May 21, 2020 at our brand-new office located at 2212 Kingsway, Vancouver. Our initial work will focus on prioritizing emergencies and incomplete treatment. Full dental services will be introduced gradually.

We are taking all precautions right now with COVID-19 in addition to our highest-standard sterilization and infection controls that we have always had in place.
