Invisalign is an orthodontic system that relies on clear aligners to straighten and align teeth. Many patients prefer Invisalign over traditional braces because it’s a simple, discreet, and comfortable system in line with today’s busy and discerning consumer.

Your affordable dentist in Vancouver offers this system, and our patients have loved their results.

Starting the Invisalign Process

Your journey to a straight smile always starts with a consultation. Your dentist wants to make sure that the orthodontic system will correct your issues and give you the results you’ve been hoping for.

This consultation includes an exam, x-rays, and a conversation with you about your expectations, health, and dental history (if you’re a new patient). You will probably have questions as well, like ‘how long does Invisalign take.’

At this visit, your dentist will let you know how long you’ll need to wear Invisalign and whether you’ll require any pretreatments to make you a candidate for this system. And a team member can break down the costs. Then, if you and your dentist decide to go forward with clear aligners, we start the process.

The first step is impressions. We take impressions of your teeth and pass these along to the Invisalign lab. They then make your aligners. When the aligners arrive at our dental office, you come in and pick them up. At that time, your dentist or a team member will answer any questions and start you on the Invisalign system, which means placing your first aligner.

Throughout the Invisalign Process

You’ll wear your first aligner for one or two weeks—your dentist will provide a schedule—and then you switch to the next one in the series. After that, you continue on until you’ve used your last one. This marks the end of treatment and the beginning of your newly straightened smile.

Periodically, you’ll visit our dental office throughout the process so your dentist can check your progress and make sure everything is lining up on schedule. If you have any questions during your smile journey, we are always happy to help. Give us a call.

After the Invisalign Process

After you’ve completed treatment, which can last for several months or up to two years, you’ll have an aligned smile and straight teeth that can make eating, speaking, and feeling confident easier than ever before.

To maintain your new smile, we will fit you with a custom retainer to remind your teeth to remain in their new positions.

Why You Should Never Use Mail-Order Aligners

Your dentist in Vancouver wants you to enjoy a safe treatment with predictable results. And most of the dentists and orthodontists we know do not recommend direct-to-consumer orthodontics.

When you purchase clear aligners online, they may not give you the results you were hoping for. Even worse, these mail-order systems can cause additional orthodontic issues and be harmful to your teeth and gums.

Remember, when dental professionals take impressions of your teeth for a lab like Invisalign, these individuals have training and experience. And when a dentist or orthodontist approves you for clear braces or orthodontics, it is only after a comprehensive examination. With mail-order systems, there is no way to know whether you’re harming your teeth and gums.
